Clean and sophisticated. These were the guidelines given to us when designing this system for a large scale remodel of a classic Salt Lake City home.
In designing this system we chose to go with Control4 for its intuitive interface and since the homeowner had several third party systems that needed to be integrated into the home automation system. Lutron lighting and Somfy shading systems are integrated with dynamic scheduling automating things like dropping shades when the sun hits the west side of the house automatically and exterior lighting being triggered at sunset.
This house is all about entertaining; a high power audio system ensures music can be heard everywhere on the property (including the elevator with a custom 3″ speaker designed to look like an LED light can). A 90″ TV entertains those in the pool area with access to 3 cable boxes, blu ray and any streaming service imaginable.
Networking was a challenge due to the amount of concrete in the home. We attacked it with a Ruckus system including 5 access points strategically placed to ensure every sq ft is covered with ultra fast wifi.
Overall an extremely fun system to design and install. The perfect example of how tech can be installed in a home in a very discrete way. Simple but sophisticated.
